I graduated from the Department of Food Science and Technology of the Agricultural University of Athens in 1983. I then worked as research assistant at the same University in Prof Emm. Rogdakis’ laboratory of Animal Breeding and Husbandry from 1985 till today. In 1997, I completed my PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof Rogdakis, financially supported by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation, concerning the “Metabolic adaptations during the perinatal period in dairy sheep in relation to level of nutrition during pregnancy and potential of lactation.” From 2004 until today I worked as lecturer in the same lab of Agricultural University of Athens.

My research interests, until now include different biological fields. In my PhD I worked on adipose tissue metabolism and factors influencing the mammary gland physiology during perinatal period in sheep. Then,  I am interested in molecular study of ovine lipogenic enzymes gene expression and in factors affecting meat quality in many productive animals (poultry, sheep, rabbit, pig). Nowadays, I have developed my interest on study of bioactive peptides of milk with anti-hypertensive and immuno-modulatory properties, in cooperation to other members of our lab.
