Dr Bizelis graduated (1977) as a Chemist from the Department of Chemistry, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and Agronomist-Animal Scientist from the Agricultural University of Athens (1983). He worked as a quality control manager in a food company (1980-1981) and in the feed industry (1983-1984). From 1984 to 1989 he did his doctorate at the Laboratory of Animal Breeding and Husbandry (Department of Animal Science) at the Agricultural University of Athens and worked as a research associate in the same laboratory (1987-1994). He was appointed Lecturer (1994), Assistant Professor (2001), Associate Professor (2009) and Professor (2013) at the Laboratory of Animal Breeding and Husbandry at the Agricultural University of Athens. He was Chairman of the Department of Animal Science and Aquaculture (2015-2017)
