Biography
George is a professor of Farm Animal Health at the Department of Animal Science of the Agricultural University of Athens. He has also worked as a professor at the University of Thessaly and the University of the United Arab Emirates. He was born in 1966 in Filiatra, Messenia, where he grew up on a sheep and goat farm. He holds a DVM and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Thessaloniki (Greece), a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Hohenheim (Stuttgart, Germany), a ‘Certificate in Sheep Health and Production’ from the RCVS (UK) and diplomas from the European Colleges of Cattle and Small Ruminant Health Management. He undertook post-doctoral studies at Cornell (USA) as a Fulbright Scholar and at Massey (New Zealand) as a visiting researcher. George is an experienced scientist with a special interest in ruminant health and production. He is an author and co-author of several publications in the field of Animal Health. He is married and the father of one child.
