Research Focus

  • Implementation of experimental trials (Applied Nutrition) for the evaluation of various feed additives and unconventional feedstuffs
  • Assessment of the current state of pastures and evaluation of improvement interventions for their management
  • Pasture-based livestock production systems and management of pastures and grazing animals
  • Effect of pasture nutrition on the quality of livestock products
  • Opportunities for the development of livestock production systems on single, intercropped and multi-cropped pastures in dry or irrigated areas
  • Investigating the use of alternative resources for the production of feed of high nutritional value
  • Feeding behaviour of herbivorous farm animals (in relation to spatio-temporal variations in pasture vegetation and its physico-chemical characteristics)
  • Evaluation of the health and welfare of grazing animals
  • Effect of grazing on the environmental parameters of natural and artificial pastures
  • Productive, economic and social conditions for livestock production systems in natural pastures and in combination with tree and arable crops
