TRANSDAIRY Project ‘TRANSborder Key Enabling Technologies and Living Labs for the DAIRY value chain‘, funded by the European Union as part of the program ENI CBCMED with a total budget of 3.8 million euros, was launched on October 23th, 2020 and will last 30 months.

The project aims to enhance the Technological Transfer among research, industry and SMEs in the fields of Key Enabling Technologies (KET’s) applied to the Dairy Value Chain, by the creation of Living Labs, the increase of institutional capacities through training, and the development of market intelligence for sustainability by creation of cross border spin-offs in Italy, Greece, Lebanon and Tunisia.

TRANSDAIRY Project will provide financial support for:

• Setting up and managing 8 living labs in Bio/nanotechnologies and ICT (2 Tunisia, 2 Lebanon, 2 Italy, 2 Greece)

• Advanced training courses for Human Resources of Public authorities and specialized intermediaries for R&D Technology Transfer with at least 200 beneficiaries

• Formative sessions in entrepreneurship for creation of Spin-Off

• Development of two Cross Border Open collaborative Platforms for pre- competitive analysis of promising products and services

• Organization of cross-border Brokerage events

• Vouchers for 16 cross border Spin-offs

• Vouchers for 12 co-developed patents

• Vouchers for 28 Co-publications on KETs for the Dairy Value Chain

• Vouchers for 35 demonstrations in real world conditions of research results and innovative KETs for the DVC

To summarize, TRANSDAIRY will allow the research and dairy value chain entities, the actors interested in creating spin-offs and new products and services, to collaborate with each other, their partners, suppliers, prospective clients and users, to tackle shared challenges, improve pre-competitive efficiency by identifying and addressing common issues.

It will modernize practices and support the transition towards a model more adapted to the reality of today’s globalization. Besides creating jobs, the project will increase the quality and safety of dairy products, improve productivity and small farmers’ revenues.
