Assistant Professor of Gene Technology Applications in Animal Science

Graduate of the Department of Biochemistry, King’s College London, UK (2001). He holds a Masters degree from Molecular Life Sciences Research, King’s College London, UK (2002), and a PhD in Agricultural Science from the Agricultural University of Athens (2009). He conducted Postdoctoral Research at the Università degli Studi di Milano (2010), at the Agricultural University of Athens (2012-2015), at the Institute of Biomedical Research of the Academy of Athens, IIBEAA (2012-2013) and at the Hellenic Agricultural Organization (ELGO-DIMITRA). He has worked as a laboratory assistant at Imperial College London, University of London (2002-2003). Since 2017 he is Assistant Professor in the Laboratory of Animal Breeding & Husbandry of the Department of Animal Sceince of the Agricultural University of Athens in the topic “Gene technology applications in animal science”.
Research Interests
  • Regulation of gene expression and study of epigenetic effects through manipulations in breeding and feeding of productive animals
  • Mechanisms of action of bioactive components of animal products, mainly of dairy origin
  • Issues of molecular physiology and pathology of the mammary gland
