Dimitroglou Arkadios

Assistant Professor in Nutrition of Farmed Fish
Laboratory of Applied Hydrobiology

Biography
Graduate of the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries (2003) of ATEI of Epirus, he continued his studies at the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom, where he obtained both his Master by Research (MRes) in Applied Fish Biology (2004) and his PhD in Fish Nutrition (2009). His research experience starts from the period of his internship in the Aquaculture department of N.C.M.R. in Crete (former I.M.B.C.), until the moment he left to start his postgraduate studies in England. Upon his return to Greece, he worked at Nireus Aquaculture SA (Avramar) as scientific responsible of Research and Innovation Actions in the Research and Development department of the company (2010-2022). Throughout this time he has been involved in the development and improvement of nutrition at all stages of fish lifecycle (from larvae to broodstock) of the most important farmed Mediterranean species i.e. Gilthead sea bream, European sea bass and red sea bream. In addition, he was actively engaged in Nireus breeding selection programs (family-based breeding programs for Gilthead sea bream, European sea bass and red sea bream), where he acquired knowledge of broodstock physiology and management. As part of Nireus R&D department, he participated in the writing and implementation of 12 research programs (National and European). Finally, he is member of both the Hellenic Technological Platform for Aquaculture (HETEPA) and the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) while holding a laboratory animal management certificate (FELASA).
